Lloyd Opens Scholarship To Deserving DLSU Medical Students

Lloyd Laboratories, Inc.  has launched a scholarship program to two deserving students, but going through financial difficulty in pursuing their medical studies at the De La Salle University, College of Medicine.

The program was made official on March 27, 2007 with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement  between Dr. Lloyd D. Balajadia, Executive Director, Lloyd Laboratories, Inc; Batch 2003 Graduate College of Medicine. and Dr.Romeo P. Ariniego, Dean, DLSU Alumni Association, College of Medicine Chapter;  assisted by Victor L. Mendoza, Chair, Scholarship Committee; and the turnover of  a  check for P170,000 that would start the program.

The ceremony was held in the Villarosa Hall, A. King Medical Research Center, at the university’s  Health Sciences Campus, Dasmarinas, Cavite.

Speaking before an audience of students, interns, doctors and guests,  Dr.Balajadia  said,  the program is the realization of his dream back in his college years, particularly,  when he was president of the Student Council. The grant shall be able to help deserving students but hardly able to support their studies because of financial difficulty.

In his speech, Dr. Balajadia expressed the hope that the recipients of the program will also extend their helping hand to students who are in the same difficult situation, not to mention the poor people in their community who need medical care but have no way of affording it.  Dr. Balajadia stressed,  he would not expect anything in return. When these scholars become successful doctors they may perhaps extend the same helping hand to those who need it. That--he said---is a payback he would gladly appreciate.

Dr. Balajadia continued: “ This scholarship program goes in line with my vision and the way to go about it is to share our little blessings to others, then God will do the rest.”

He likewise remarked,  that he is doing this because he love his school that gave him education and he had yearned to be a partner of the institution in both academic and research undertakings.

He also encouraged the students and faculty of De La Salle College of Medicine to contribute their expertise and make comments, observations and suggestions and be a part of his endeavors.
