Westfield Pharmaceuticals, Inc.---a member of Innogen Pharma Group---has launched a promotion campaign for Diuzide (hydrochlorothiazide) as “The Cornerstone in the Treatment of Hypertension.” Diuzide is cost-effective and efficient for treatment of hypertension--a first stage diuretic and antihypertensive that lowers high blood pressure.
It is used as adjunctive therapy in edema, associated with congestive heart failure, hepatic cirrhosis, and corticosteroid and estrogen therapy.
About 250 internees, hospital residence and other specialties attended a one-day symposium on the killer-disease, Hypertension, organized by Westfield Pharmaceutical, Incorporated.

In the course of his talk, he stressed that arterial hypertension causes an established risk factor for coronary artery disease and stroke. He added that treating hypertension has been based on the level of blood pressure; but more recently, it has been suggested that management should be based on cardiovascular risk assessment.
The speaker also cited JNC7, declaring that diuretics are the first line agents in the management of hypertension. He added, ACE inhibitors and calcium antagonists are as effective as conventional therapy with beta-blockers and diuretics, in reducing blood pressure in elderly hypertensive patients. Lowering of raised blood pressure is important for the prevention of fatal or non-fatal cardiovascular events.
Westfield Pharmaceuticals also markets and distributes Ramipro (Ramipril), an ACE inhibitor that is also proven effective for hypertension management, reducing the risk of acute Myocardial Infarction and stroke, Cerebrovascular events in patients with diabetes.
