Indications |
Pain and inflammation in rheumatic disease, exacerbation of OA (short-term); ankylosing spondylitis. |

Dosage |
Osteoarthritis 7.5 mg/day. Max: 15 mg/day.RA and Ankylosing Spondylitis Initially 15 mg/day,
may be reduced to 7.5 mg/day. Elderly Initially 7.5 mg/day. |

Administration |
May be taken with or without food (May be taken w/ meals if GI discomfort occurs.). |

Contraindications |
Stroke, CVA, heart attack, MI, coronary artery bypass graft, uncontrolled HTN, CHF.
Previous or active peptic ulcer. Hypersensitivity to aspirin or NSAIDS. |

Special Precautions |
Severe hepatic impairment, bleeding disorders & renal failure unless receiving dialysis. |
|
Adverse Drug Reactions |
GI discomfort, nausea and diarrhea. |

Pregnancy Category (US FDA) |
Category C: Either studies in animals have revealed adverse effects on the foetus
(teratogenic or embryocidal or other) and there are no controlled studies in women or
studies in women and animals are not available. Drugs should be given only if the potential
benefit justifies the potential risk to the foetus.

Category D: There is positive evidence of human foetal risk, but the benefits from use
in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk (e.g., if the drug is needed in
a life-threatening situation or for a serious disease for which safer drugs cannot
be used or are ineffective).
