Montelukast Na |

Indications |
Treatment of bronchial asthma & allergic rhinitis. |

Dosage |
Adult & children >15 yr 10 mg tab daily. Children 6-14 yr 5 mg tab. 2-5 yr 4 mg tab.
Doses to be taken once daily at bedtime. |

Administration |
May be taken with or without food. |
|
Special Precautions |
Montelukast & other leukotriene antagonists should not be taken for the treatment of acute asthma attack. |
|
Adverse Drug Reactions |
Headache, increased incidence of resp tract infection (in the elderly), & GI disturbances.
Generalized pain, arthralgia & myalgia, fever & dizziness, hypersensitivity reactions e.g.
urticaria & angioedema. |

Pregnancy Category (US FDA) |
Category B: Either animal-reproduction studies have not demonstrated a foetal
risk but there are no controlled studies in pregnant women or animal-reproduction
studies have shown an adverse effect (other than a decrease in fertility) that was
not confirmed in controlled studies in women in the 1st trimester (and there is no
evidence of a risk in later trimesters). |
