Piracetam |

Indications |
Adjunct in the treatment of myoclonus of cortical origin; dementia & other disorders/states which
include alcoholism, vertigo, cerebrovascular accidents, behavioral disorders in children
& after trauma or surgery. |

Dosage |
7.2 g daily, increase by 4.8 g/day every 3 or 4 days. Max: 20 g daily given in 2 or 3 divided doses. |

May be taken with or without food |

Special Precautions |
Severe renal or hepatic impairment. Abrupt withdrawal. May cause allergy eg bronchial asthma. |

Adverse Drug Reactions |
Insomnia or somnolence, wt gain, hyperkinesia, nervousness & depression. Diarrhea & rash. |
