Contents |
Salmeterol xinafoate 25 mcg, fluticasone propionate 125 mcg |
|
Indications |
Treatment of reversible obstructive airways disease including asthma;
management of COPD like chronic bronchitis & emphysema. |

Dosage |
Adult & adolescents =12 yr 2 inhalations bid. |
|
Contraindications |
Active or quiescent TB or other established pulmonary infections.
Pregnancy. Salmeterol: Hyperthyroidism, hypersensitivity to sympathomimetic
amines or aerosol propellants. Management of premature labor, in threatened abortion.
Fluticasone: Peptic ulcer, osteoporosis, psychoses or severe psychoneuroses,
CHF or HTN. DM, epilepsy, glaucoma, infectious diseases, ocular herpes simplex,
chronic renal failure, uremia. Elderly. |

Adverse Drug Reactions |
Tachycardia, palpitations, cardiac arrhythmias, precipitation of angina pectoris,
CNS stimulation, dry mouth, sweating, headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, nervousness,
anxiety & tremor. Hypersensitivity reactions. |

Pregnancy Category (US FDA) |
Category C: Either studies in animals have revealed adverse effects on the foetus
(teratogenic or embryocidal or other) and there are no controlled studies in women
or studies in women and animals are not available. Drugs should be given only if the
potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the foetus. |
