Indications |
Management of type 2 DM. |
|
Dosage |
1-4 mg once daily. |
|
Administration |
Should be taken with food (Take immediately before the 1st main meal of the day. Do not skip meals.). |

Contraindications |
Type I DM. Patients w/ ketoacidosis & in those w/ severe infection, trauma or other severe condition where the sulfonylurea is unlikely to control the hypoglycemia. Pregnancy & lactation. |

Adverse Drug Reactions |
GI disturbances eg nausea, vomiting, heartburn, anorexia, diarrhea & metallic taste. Increased appetite & wt gain, rashes & pruritus may also occur. |

Pregnancy Category (US FDA) |
Category C: Either studies in animals have revealed adverse effects on the foetus (teratogenic or embryocidal or other) and there are no controlled studies in women or studies in women and animals are not available. Drugs should be given only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the foetus. |
